Title: Strega Nona

Author: Tomie dePaola

Publisher: Simon & Shuster Books for Young Readers

ISBN: 0-6671-66283-X

Strega Nona is the story of an old women with magical powers who take's in a man named Big Anthony as a helper. Anthony sees Nona using a magical pot to create pasta. He then uses the pot himself but not knowing how to stop it creates a huge mess in the town that he and Strega Nona have to take care of. So basically it's a little masterpiece. gorgeous visual elements and a fun little story just make this story so perfect at being what it's trying to be. I can't really think of much to say it really just feels perfect.
Title: On Beyond Zebra

Author: Dr.Seuss

Publisher: Random House(September 12, 1995)

ISBN: 0-349-80084-2

This book is about a boy teaching another child about all the crazy letters that come after Z and all the ridiculous words they are used to spell. As one would expect from Dr.Seuss the art and writing are fantastic and lyrically constructed. The one issue I had is I wish there was a little more color because the pictures stunning as they were felt a tad to bland with the small amount of color and variation used. Otherwise the idea was creative and the book is all around great.

Title: One Hungry Monster

Author: Susan Heyboer O'Keefe

Illustrator: Lynn Munsinger

Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers; First Board book Edition (April 1st 2001)

ISBN: 0-316-60804-1

This story was about little monsters that followed around a boy all day craving something to eat. After pestering the boy enough he finally grabbed a bunch of food and gave it to the monsters. So as a board book it's a little wordy but other than that it's a fantastic little book. It is a counting rhyme book so it has a fun predictable pattern to it so young readers can follow along well. The visuals are stunning even bringing in some spacing technique as the number of monsters or food items increases.

Title: I Can Hop

Author: Oliver Henderson

Illustrator: Joel Snyder

Publisher: www.readinga-z.com

ISBN: NA

This book is about a trouble making rabbit who wants to see how many things he can hop on. It was a fun little book with its visually striking art and it's rhyming format making it an easy appealing read. It feels middle of the road to me, like it's good but it didn't blow me away.
Title: Jig, Jag, and Jog

Author: Robert Charles

Illustrator: John Kostner

Publisher: www.readinga-z.com

ISBN: NA

This was actually pretty cool. I really liked the cartoon style and colors and the rhyming made it a lot more bearable to read. As such I feel this would be more entertaining to kids and they would enjoy it more. It was about a boy making jam and animals messing around and jumping in the jam pot.
Title: The Tot and the Pot

Author: Lili Henderson

Illustrator: Chris Boldwin

Publisher: Readinga-z.com

ISBN: NA

So... Super boring is how I would describe this book. Its about a toddler seeing a pot and putting it on his head and then chilling with his mom. Not a lot to it as you would imagine with a decodable book, as for its function yeah I think it's a pretty good book. Not a ton to say it's just a solid decodable with appropriate vocabulary and nice pictures.

Title: A House For Hermit Crab

Author: Eric Carle

Publisher: Scholastic INC(October 2007)

ISBN:0-545-03588-0

This is was cool but kind of a poor choice for a board book. Its the story of a hermit crab decorating his new home, at the end he out grows his home and gives it to another hermit crab and prepares to decorate a new home. The story is endearing and all but it's just so full of words for a board book. The text is small and considering how much there is and some of the words I feel it doesn't work well for the intended readers. Mind you would work really well as a book to read to kids.
